Workshops and courses for teachers and supervisors
Supervising writers is difficult and time-consuming. Therefore, it is good to reflect on how you supervise, what goals you have with it, what the effect of your supervision is and how giving feedback can be more effective. Efficiency can usually be improved by better analysis (diagnosis) of the problem and by activating the writer. My workshops and courses help you master alternative strategies. In doing so, I prefer to work with authentic material provided by teachers/supervisors.
Thesis supervisors after a course: * Joy is an inspiring and knowledgeable teacher. I am glad I was able to participate, I gained many valuable insights. * The instructor was very competent, challenged us to re-think our approach to supervision and she is an excellent listener.
Do you want tools to conduct better supervision conversations? My PhD research on thesis interaction taught me a lot about how to make this more effective and what our pitfalls are. Trainings in this area are even more effective if we use a training actor. It allows you to practice difficult situations, but also to discover how other strategies work. A good training actor also gives you personal and instructive feedback. I enjoy working with Judith Schut for this and often do.
Mirjam de Winter (owner Topscriptie): ... A nice mix of theory, models as well as very practical tips and tools that allow us to have even better coaching conversations. Joy has a very personal approach and a lot of knowledge and experience, which she is able to convey in a very good way. I can highly recommend Joy if you are looking for a good training with a great trainer.
